Q. How can I join the Mail Order Manager User Group?

A. Just go our Google Groups home and sign up.  You must have a Google Account to access the file and poll areas, so we suggest that you create one.  It's free, of course.

Q.  Do I have to register twice?

A.  Sort of.  First, you'll sign up to the main listserv at Google Groups.  This will give you immediate access to momusers@googlegroups.com so you can send and receive message posts.  Please allow a day or two for the webmaster to add you to the list of members at momusers.com so you can access the members-only areas of this site.  Once you can access these areas you will either post as a GUEST or REGISTERED USER.  This is where the second registration comes up.  The advantage of registering is that the website will "remember" you the next time to visit that area.  Just click on register and fill out the short form.  You will receive an email from sitekreator -- please respond with 24 hours to activate your account.

Q. Why do I have to include my company information in my posts on googlegroups?  Why can't I remain anonymous?

A.  The group members voted overwelmingly to prohibit anonymous posts.  This was done for several reasons especially to prevent excessive Mail Order Manager or Dydacomp bashing by those who would be more civil if they had to identify themselves, plus the fact that some negative posters were suspected of actually being Dydacomp competitors pretending to be customers.

Q.  Can vendors who have complimentary or even competitive products or services for Mail Order Manager join this group?

A.  Yes.  But vendors must join the group at a small cost, see Vendor Memberships.  Vendors may provide informative replies to posts but cannot post self-serving or self promotional messages of any kind.  Those who do may be permanently banned from the group.  That said, sponsoring vendors may send press release announcemts to the group owner who will post these to the group and on this website.

Q. Will I get inudated with spam?

A. No. We haven't had a single spam message in more than four years because we're vigilent about screening our membership.  And sitekreator (our website hosting company) will never send you spam either when you register for a free account.

Q. Will I receive a barrage of emails?

A.  It's possible, if a particular topic is very hot, to receive several emails from the list that day.  However, you can choose to receive a daily digest of postings (instead of individual emails) so you'll typically receive just one email each day with all the postings for that day included.  You can even sign up to receive no emails at all but then you'll have to visit our Google Groups web page to check for read any new postings.

Q. Do most people receive emails to their business address or a personal one?

A.  It varies.  We think it's best to use your company email address and receive these at work.  Choose digest if you don't want more than one or two emails per day.  Using a business email address is better if someone wants to contact you off-list or vice versa.

Q. Does Dydacomp run this site/user group?

A.  No.  Dydacomp has never had any role whatsoever in this group.  We are completely and totally independent.

Q. Who started the MOMUSERS group?  When and why?

A. Alan J. Secrist created a listerv called momusers@egroups.com way back in 1998.  This was done the request of a relative who wanted some help, comfort, and advice from other Mail Order Manager users but no had way of contacting them.  Word of the group gradually spread and as of January 2010 it has more than 1,950 members.  A.J. runs the group and this website as a hobby.  He is not and has never been a Mail Order Manager user. His primary role is to screen new members to effectively exclude spammers, manage the membership list and maintain the momusers.com website.  A.J. is not paid for his work and reinvests all advertising revenue from this website to pay for pay-per-click and other ads to promote word of the group and hopefully expand it's membership.  Contact him at momusers.owner@gmail.com.
